Membership

All GPs on the NHS Cambridgeshire performers list were offered the opportunity to put themselves forward as candidates to become members of the Senate. Aspiring Senate members were required to meet a broad person specification and, in case where there were more than candidates than place available were elected by their peers.
 
The GP Senate will represent four constituencies. The number of seats is broadly proportionate to the population that it covers:

• West System, Hunts, 2 seats, population 160,000
• North System, Borders, Fenland, 2 seats, population 111,000
• East System, Isle of Ely/East Cambs, 1 seat, population 83,000
• South System, Greater Cambridge, 3 seats, population 271,000
