A consultation on how to enable people to register with the GP practice of their choice.
Here we provide information on a national consultation that was undertaken by the Department of Health. As it applies to everyone we have provided details here, more can be found by clicking on the link below.
The consultation was launched on the 4 March 2010 to seek people’s views on a range of proposals that will enable patients to register with a GP practice of their choice. It closed on 2 July 2010.
This consultation sought views from the public, from healthcare professionals and from other staff working in the NHS on new proposals that give patients a much greater choice of GP practice.
The consultation set out the different options for organising healthcare for patients, and the potential implications of their choices if the current system of GP practice boundaries is removed.
It has been developed following a period of initial engagement with NHS colleagues, GPs, practice managers, and professional and patient groups.
